Assuming you got yours with the z5 footswitch, do you ever engage contour? I found myself keeping it on constantly lately, as it adds an awesome midrange bark. And if its not too much trouble, what settings do y'all use.

Thanks duders (and possibly gals)

how's that cab

how is that ubercab with the powerball, I use two mesas in the 4 ohm positions. anyways, the contour switch supposedly changes the mid loose and mid focus. I always keep mine on, what settings are you refering to, cause mine slay every other that I've seen. See if you can't check out my thread Mine/Sanctity's rig of doom. I have pics. So you can kind of see. but the trick to a powerball is if it is a V1 turn off the noise gate - it compresses. V2 don't worry about it. Also take your channel volumes and max them out, it gives you so much more every thing.

I don't know my settings offhand cause my PBall is 110 miles away at home

But I keep the contour in nearly all the time, fattens the tone out a treat. Without it, the amp has a tendancy to scoop mids even when the EQ is for them is about 5-6.

Powerball love

The Uberkab sounds very throaty with tight, full bass response, its possible to dial in very nice lows.
The combination of v30's and 75's also helps with the midrange compared to an all v30 cab and fuller, tigher lows then an all 75. I do find having to roll of the presence and treble considerably to get rid of some v30 high's in the high gain mode.
I definately noticed the noise gate compressing the sound lately as well, its always off now. The contour/focused mids switch is definately the trick, makes for a much throatier midrange, which seems to be the main point against these amps. I definately love my amp again!

I also have my mids switched to focused mode at all times. I kinda wish they made the powerballs open mode like the focused mode and then put a focused mode on top of that so I could use it for solo-boost as inteded
I just like it better that way, cuts more easily, I like the sound better, ...
