i'd wait and get an x2 for yourself... and if possible, just rent a decent wireless for the festival show.

Two suggestions:

1. I've got an AKG 3000 series you can borrow, but it only has one belt pack.

2. Could you get Sam to borrow you one from his work?

Don't go with anything other than a digital system that operates outside of the UHF band. All others are in the process of rapidly becoming obsolete as digital broadcast TV replaces analog in most parts of the developed world.

when i get the cash, i'm going for the X2 myself

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Shiiiiiiiiit! Going to have to rob a fair amount of old ladies then...

Well, I will definately have to look into this properly, as I have two rigs at the moment, and it'd be nice to share between them, so I am currently thinking of going a bit more modular with a 2U rack for tuner + wirless, then the other racks, but even then, it is a bit, hmmmm...

Especially as there's no chance of being able to afford two wireless systems!

As it's only a week away, are there any good cheapish ones that'll do for a few gigs to try this stuff out?

Totally O/T, but the funny thing is that OFCOM (UK government body which regulates media & broadcasting) have just decided to sell off the UHF bandwidth left behind from TV broadcasting converting to digital. However, in doing that, they will totally screw the UK broadcasters who all use UHF wireless & talkback systems when running film production!!!!
