![]() | Laney Pro Tube and AOR Is my memory fuzzy or were the AOR or Pro tube lead series cool? I remember trying a couple and digging my bandmate's, but I went the Marshall and then Engl route. I have a chance to pickup a 50 watt 6 knob or a 100 watt 8 knob. Can I run the 100 watt with 2 power tubes pulled without tone loss? I wouldn't mind having that hotrod JCM800 tone as a backup to the Engl. I also hear Voodoo amps has/had a mod for the Laneys. Anyone know anything about the different versions? Adam Hey! Lets go pry that gun from Charlton Heston's dead hands. It'll be like taking candy from a baby now! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There's a little info to be found out there, just google them. I can't remember the exact details but they're great amps in the 800 vein. From what I recall some of the later ones used diode clipping (as did the late JCM800's). I'd love to get hold of one of these but the shipping is too expensive from the US and the few I've seen locally were overpriced. Still keeping an eye open for them ![]() |

![]() | Thanks for the input. Thats the same info I've found. There are two where I teach lessons and the owner said he has 20 in a warehouse, most of them Ace Freeley's from Kiss. He's Ace's guitar tech. I might trade a Voodoo modded 900 series Marshall I'm not crazy about for one because the circuit is supposed to be an 800 series Marshall with the Lee Jackson mods installed. I'd get it to send to Voodoo amps and get that 80's tone I always wanted. Adam or Splawn Competition? Last edited by neoclassical; 02-07-2008 at 05:56 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Cool, let me know if he's interested in letting any go for a fair price, not that I'd be buying any time soon, so I shouldn't ask really ![]() Splawn I've heard good things about in terms of tone and quality, but I don't agree with mixing religious beliefs and business like that, it's a real turn-off IMO ![]() |

![]() | I agree. It's funny that I didn't read that the other night. Guess I won't be buying a Splawn, I won't shop at Walmart because of their connections to the religious right and the republican party, and I won't use products tested on animals. Thank you for pointing that out, Adam |

![]() | Got the Laney Pro tube AOR 50 and an SD-1. A slice of 80's heaven The power section has 6V6's in it? I heard these were fixed bias too? Could el34's be put in instead? This thing is heading off to Voodoo amps and my old modded Marshall JCM900 that I traded is going off on tour as one of Ace Freeley's backup amps. Somehow Mark got the better end of the deal , but that head was just gathering dust while I played the Engl. Pics will follow when I'm done with my paper for grad school. Adam |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Cool. Frankly I'd rather have an AOR than a 900 Can't say I've tried 6V6's , I thought the 50w had EL34's? I'm sure Voodoo will clarify these things. |
