How many people here use a MIDI controlled rig?

Seems to me we often talk about amps, but not really the rig as a whole.

Mine's a fairly simple rig, the two main components being my Pod XT Live and my Engl Invader 100. All midi functions of the amp are controlled via the Pod, which is also in the effects loop, I've got a few different patches set up with and without effects.

I'm building mine currently. Waiting on a G-Major and FCB1010 in the mail. Then I fucking have to buy cords

Engl Thunder 50 with a G Major in the loop, and a Behringer FCB1010 controller. I have the relay out on the G Major going into my Thunder 50, so that I can channel switch based upon what patch I am on. It was a real revelation when I worked out how to do that.

Over this year though, a lot of my rig is changing, the only things staying the same are the G Major, and my current cab. I'm getting an Engl Invader, a rack for the G Major and also putting in it my pedals (using a MIDI looper to change them in and out), tuner, possibly a noise gate and the like.

I'm trying to make everything as automated as possible, but also with the freedom to be able to bring an effect in when I'm feeling it, hence I'm looking for a better controller, with program change and control change messages available, and possible expression pedal input (considering whether to put the Digitech Whammy I have in the rack or have it out front).

I'm definitely looking forward to having it all sorted though

I've a few things up front, such as my Morley Wah, TS7 and Decimator, but other than that, it's all midi. Wish I could switch in and the TS7 mind you, because as awesome as it is for leads, I do use my cleans a lot, but it's no biggie, because it's only one stomp that'll be clicking on and off.

I'm looking into these at the moment http://www.woboge.com/.

They do a 1 loop, 4 loop, and soon to do 8 loop MIDI switcher, so you can activate them in the signal chain at will. Needless to say, I think I'll be investing in a 4 loop later this year

Hey Karl, just out of curiousity... why the HELL do you use a POD with an ENGL??

If you're using the POD for FX, dude, seriously just get yourself a dedicated rack FX unit. The POD is designed to be the 'amp', and the ENGL is SUCH a better amp than a POD. Not to mention the Line6 FX aren't that great compared to other units.

In any case, yes. I'm a MIDI user, and a full on rack setup.

Basic components:
Wireless->MXR Smart Gate->TriAxis(MIDI)->Guitar Silencer->Furman PQ4->G-Force(MIDI)->2:90, controlled with an FCB1010.

And the TriAxis switches the Guitar Silencer and the Furman EQ via relays, and has a Boss PS-3 in the FX loop.

Metal... Nuff Said!!

Nah, 'tis cool beans man. If I really feel the need for a switchable OD, I'll probably wait 'til LordofChaos comes out with a midi switchable Bloody Murder, until then, it's no bother.

Honestly man, for the mount of FX I use, I just don't feel justified getting a dedicated FX unit. Especially when my Pod works as an excellent midi controller.

I'd use some reverb, delay, or chorus now and then, but for the most part it's just a dry signal I like maybe 90% of the time. For that, I think the Line6 FX are just fine.

AHH I C Now! I keep forgetting that the 'Live' is a footboard and can be used as a MIDI controller. That makes sense then I guess.

But you've got the amp modeling sections turned off right?
