Bloody Murder review
Edit: I'll do a short modded ts9 vs BM topic once i take it to jam and can get a good feel for it.
Alrighty, so having used an unmodded ts9(reissue) and ts10("vintage") as well as joes modded ts9, I feel I have a good level to go on here. The package arrived today, I'll take pictures later, I was just stoked to try out the BM. Both amps had a recto 4x12 under it at lowish volumes, speakers were c30's i think. Settings were level: full, tone: roughly 12 o clockish and drive: at about 9 o clock. I plugged in into my Sunn Model T first and had my gain fairly high on the sunn and rocked my rg2077xl tuned to f#. It cleared up the tone a bit and moving the drive knob around didn't have a lot of effect until we hit over the 12 oclock mark, which i'll talk about later. I have to say, right off the bat, I wasn't impressed but the model T doesn't do the low volume setting any justice so I hooked up my jcm800 and plugged in my rg2027 tuned standard with an evo bridge. All of a sudden my jcm800 came to life. It was wierd. I had buyers remorse after buying it because it wasn't performing up to the standards I've heard when i thought about buying one. This pedal(and guitar) brought out the inner demon in that amp. Sounds big and tasty. Very nice. Next in the jcm800 lineup I got my 76 les paul custom and ran it through the paces. This guitar loves this amp with a ts in front but the BM really brought out some goodness. I ran through rockin in the free world and i swear i recorded that song with this setup. Needless to say, very happy. The only drawback so far is that the drive knob when turned up past 12 to 1 oclock gets very flubby and unusable. I threw in on a clean setting and it just didn't sound very good to my ears. I would not use this pedal for a clean - moderate distortion I don't think. That being said I haven't messed with all the settings well enough to compensate so I'll leave that option open one day when i want to really sit down for that tone. All in all it's a really great pedal and again, I highly recommend you all give that man some business, grab a BM and tell everyone you know. (I wasn't paid to say any of that, I'll settle for an effects sponsorship though... hint hint) ![]() ![]() |

Glad this one made it to ya
I still think somebody at the Canadian customs is enjoying the first TS9 I sent you ![]() About the drive knob I've never heard that complaint before and I really did take time to try to make it a good standalone mild distortion! Sounds good on my rig! It is of course made to be better at boosting with low drive/high level settings than anything but I likes the distortion too! Thanks for the review d00d! |

it's true but i figured since i was doing a review i should really give it the full spectrum, i don't think i'd ever use it in that capacity as i have lots of other amps that would do it better just by being what they are. This pedal is much better than stock and modded ts pedals alike. great work and I'll be sticking with joe for my effects. |

I don't use gain past 12oc on anything higain as it mush up the sound but it is to be expected (your sound get too distorted, lacking punch and definition)
The only way I use it with the gain maxed out is on a slightly crunch channel, it gives a very good 70's style distortion ![]() Bloody Murder #5 |
