The whole point of expensive amps is the awesome sounding preamps lol. except marshalls. all the tone there is in the powersection

but were talking the dragon. it loses all of its dragon sound if you bypass the pre.
The prorack G is actually 2 noise suppressors, one for before the preamp, and one for the fx loop. if you mod it to be serial, then youre set. And just get a good wah, and if you want a good eq, get a good graphic eq from EHX, and run that in your fx loop. way better than preprocessing with the 2101 IMO.
clearly, at least try the 2101 if you have it, but id be willing to put my word on it that youd prefer the results of my/noodles suggestions

No no no, I'm bypassing the pre of the 2101

I'm not dumb enough to buy an expensive tube amp then use it as a fancy power amp

I meant run into the effects return of the 2101, then the output of that into Norbert.

Pro rack G eliminates the need for the NS-2. You run:

guitar->wah->OD(BM or TS etc)->Pro rackG->Amp->pro rackG noise->G-major->amp

I know, I don't have it yet, but I will be snagging one sometime in the future, given that I can mod the effects loop to be serial.

I talked to the ISP folks at the NAMM as I had never seen that device before. It actually samples the signal before that amp, and reduces noise in the effects loop. It is only one processor.

Yeah, it seems to be on the principle of a VCA (voltage controlled amplifier), in that if there is no voltage, it mutes, and if there is voltage, it opens up the amplifier.

I like the idea behind it, would love to give it a proper try

I'm not NOT listening to Noodles, I just wanted to know if I could use the 2101 as a wah without it sounding like ass

I guess I just don't want to be running wires all over the place, I'm hoping I can get away with just the MIDI/power to the FCB1010 and eventually snag me a wireless unit.

From my own experience MIDI controllers SUCK for wah. The MIDI protocol simply doesn't have enough bits to change smoothly enough and I often heard a "zipper" effect as the wah changed. I chose instead to hook an EV-5 continuous expression pedal into my GP-8 for wah effects. Got rid of the zipper effect but the sweep was still all wrong and it's difficult to get the toe kick on/off to function through judicious programming without fawking with the sweep. Right in the midst of your killer solo you toe down a little too far and you lose your wah. Not cool.

I finally just went and bought a wah pedal.
