^ What he said. For a wah, you want a real wah pedal. Line6 has the best simulation of all of the ones I have heard, and even then, it's not all that great.

I'd hold off on the Pro RackG until trying the gate in the G Major. It does what I need it to do, so I didn't need to spend more money and space in the rack on yet another unit. Remember, the more you have, the more that can go wrong. Build it up one piece at a time, and keep going back to guitar -> amp for a comparison. It is easy to get too far gone playing the gear game, and your tone winds up sounding like shit.

Fuck. That sucks, I don't want yet another power adapter, pedal, and 2 more cords. I'll probably just go wahless then for awhile, or until I really feel the need for it. I'd much rather go wireless, instead of having the wireless go to the wah, then have a cord run back to the rack. Did I mention I fucking hate cords? Doing PC deployments all day will do that to you How well will the gate work in the effects loop until I mod it since it's parallel? I'm assuming even if I dime the effects mix, I'd still get some hum and stuff since there's still a path for a signal bypassing the effects loop?

I like the idea behind it, would love to give it a proper try
I bought mine based on reviews. it totally sorted out my triaxis which is noisy as shit. I just love the way it works and that you you just it as fire and forget. Two tweaks and it's done, and is just ace. I'll have to open it up and do that little mod as mine is from last year, but even then, you only notice on extreme stacato, and to be fair, being able to quickly thwack the volume knob is a good skill to master anyway.

By far the best noise gate I've ever used, and I think I've been through most of them!

The gate in the g-major is good, and will deal with most amps, and served me well for a while. However, if you have a noisy as hell amp (most of the older high gain ones) then it doesn't cut it. Also for fast gating it does kill your tone and doesn't react to nuances in playing, as in it will cut you off if you are going for that rung out chord if you gate too heavily, like with most noise gates.

But yeah, too much gear really can kill a lot. For instance, stay away from the BBE, it's something noone should ever need really...

So what noodles said. If it works, then don't waste money on something you don't need!

Well, Norbert isn't that noisy, except for currently he's stuck in my basement and I have to stand directly in front of him about 1.5 feet away when I play through him But I'm sure once I get the space thing sorted I'm sure it will be fine. But are you sure about gating it in the loop? I've always heard of people gating right after the guitar.

(just my £.0.02, I hated the wah on both my 2101 and 2112 with a venomous passion...there was no smoothness, it felt like I was pushing footswitches to get different snapshots of a wah, rather than a smooth sweep)

Selling my Moser V (£500), ESP LTD H307 (£550) and Iron Maiden Strat(£900), check out the Guitars For Sale forum
