Hmm, the old Mesas were hand built. It used to be that when you called Mesa/Boogie, the same person would answer the phone. She even recognized my voice a time or two and knew instantly who I was. This was long before I could afford one, though.

I'll never buy a Marshall.

They still do that.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Not bustin' your balls dude but you have no grounds to bash on Engls now that you don't own one. Not long ago they were the best thing since sliced bread to you.
What the hell dude? You're putting words in my mouth. I loved my ENGL then. I still do now. I simply said they are not boutique amps, which is obvious. They're mass produced, they are well known to cheap out in several areas of their amps, etc. I even said several times in my last post(s) that despite that, they still sound great and that it's up to the listener to decide.

You're being delusional and defensive for no good reason. Even before I got my ENGL I read about and knew about ENGLs flaws/etc. I opted to buy one anyways because I liked them. I loved my Fireball. I would get one again. I only sold that because I got lucky and found the VHT which I like more.

I don't see why now I'm an ENGL basher just because I found an amp that I liked more than my Fireball. I played WarriorOfMetal's Savage 120 and thought it was nice. I'm sure the SE/Invader are too. I didn't like the Powerball I had, otherwise every ENGL I've played I liked.

Yes on the first part, but I didn't switch from my Triaxis/2:90 to the ENGL for tonal reasons. I maintained all along that I thought the Mesa setup sounded better than the Fireball. I made the switch for financial reasons. I sold my Triaxis/2:90 for about 3x as much as I paid for the Fireball, which helped out a lot. I also wanted a head since my rack was back-breakingly heavy. What I did say however was that the unique sound of the Fireball suited my personal style better than the Triaxis, but I would choose a Triaxis/2:90 over a Fireball if all things were equal.

IMO Mesa > ENGL.

Yea I had a bad day yesterday. 12 hour shift at work with no lunch break AFTER I worked on Bloody Murders for 2 and a half hours in the morning. I was in a pissy mood and proceeded to wash down work with too much Newcastle when I got home. Now that I go back and read I see was kinda being a dick and it wasn't really my intentions I was just tanked and in a bad mood! Sorry bout that

I still stand by what I said about anything Powerball and up, they don't skimp on anything in them! Just last I saw "mass produced" "cheap" and "engl" in the same sentence with my beer goggles on and got a little heated. It seemed like bashing through said goggles but I see that it wasn't. Ima go have some beer now another LONG day but I'm in a good mood

I think a company comparable to the above brands would be Soldano, who've been at it for years, and nobody looks back on them as a fad.

VHT, Engl, Framus, Diezel, etc... are not boutique amps in my book. They are high end, top quality, production amplifiers. Low production numbers are a big factor of boutique to me and none of those amps fit the bill. You can't buy a boutique amp at Musicians Friend IMO.
As Boutique amps I consider one or two man companys like Elmwood or
Mueller Amplification. Not easy to find, but very good.

...and it sounds like boutique
