![]() ![]() ![]() | randall head squealling issue I've got a randall RH100G2 and with the gain cranked (well past half) on either channel dirty channel, with the volume pretty high, the thing squeals, not like feed back, but a weird squeal. I've got a Boss NS-2 Noise Suppersor that i'm running in the loop, with my eq pedal. with the suppersor cranked, the effects level down to half, and the gain in the eq pedal lowered a bit, along with the channel gain on the amp at about half, no squeal. but i'm loosing a bunch of volume, and i can't push the gain any harder. has anyone had similar problems, and does anyone have any other solutions, or suggestions in gear i can use to help out, or re-arrange/re-set mine, i've tried anything i could think of. Thanks! B. |

![]() | What sort of pickups are in your guitars? Sometimes a microphonic or cheap pickup will create squealing of the nonfeedback sort. I had it happen in an old Epiphone Explorer that I had. It would squeal like a mutha till I replaced the pickups with Duncans, then the problem went away. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's most likely feedback then. From my experience, as I used to run a SS poweramp, and now I've just gotten a 2:90, that if you push a SS poweramp too hard (like I had to in order to compete with a 5150 1/2 stack), they will definately cause feedback issues. I had to run an MXR Smart Gate before my preamp (between my wireless and preamp), and my Rocktron Guitar Silencer after the preamp. And I had to run the MXR quite high. Worked, but killed a lot of my sustain. Now though, I barely have to have the MXR on when I crank the shit outta my 2:90. So my suggestion would be to put the NS-2 between your guitar and amp input, just as a test, to see if it gets rid of the squeal. Nevermind about the amp's hissing for now. Focus on the squeal. If that is the issue, get yourself another noise gate for before the amp. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | it's no feedback i've ever heard before, it's more of a squeal. and i dont really have any hiss, just the squeal. i'll try firing it in front of the amp again, but i've done that before and it didnt do the trick. i could deal with less sustain, if i could get more gain and volume out of it |
