Power Tube Distortion = Good
So, I was messing around with my Dual Rectifier yesterday and discovered this.
Put the Master Volume at about 12 o'clock and use the Channel Volume for loudness control and you'll be in heaven. It hits the speakers so much harder and is more agressive. Now that my rig is home I have more time to just fiddle with shit ![]() |

there's just a neverending array of different subtle sounds to be had with a good tube amp at different settings and volumes. i believe you can get some convincing tube like tones from digital modelers, but they just don't have the same responsiveness and feel of a tube amp. that's why i always go back. |

Yep. I'd do this if it balanced with the clean channel. That is pretty much the reason most people don't do this.

I wonder if Mesa is going to introduce a revised Recto with the Stiletto's awesome volume knob (not the knob itself but you know what I mean... curve?) this year.

you figured this out now? damn.
i figured it out as soon as i ran the volume low and the master on 8 on my YCV80 lol. i enjoy balancing channel volumes really low and then putting the master on 8. its great fun. then gradually bring up the volumes until the drummer can actually hear me and away i go! Note: sorry if i sound like a prick right now, in a bit of a weird mood. pre and power section drive=teh sechs
3 cheers for free gear!

In our practice space I never had the chance to REALLY tweak my amp and try different things.
Now that I've quit, and my rigs home I can fool around a bit. |

I wonder if you can mod an amps volume taper without destroying tone?

should be able to just fine, as long as the maximum value of the pot is the same
![]() technically, youd hit all the same values, just at different points in the rotation of the knob. |
