Basson Cabs?

The band I'm producing is about to land an endorsement with these guys, are the cabs any good? I hear they're very huge sounding cabs, like Vader's. I couldn't find any sound clips online, so if anyone can chime in here, that'd be great.

I remember seeing Brides of Destruction using them, and they sounded outrageously huge.

Now was the low end tight, or was it just really boomy?

I have a Basson 2x10 for my bass. I think it sounds fantastic. I don't know much about bass tone really, but I'd say it's punchy (for a 2x10), and it puts out serious lows. I have a low F string on my bass and it sounds good all the way down to that note (~21hz)

They're supposed to have very big speaker magnets (12.5 lb magnets) that take a large amount of power to move. They recommend minimum wattage to power them, and I was told by the guy I called at Basson that they really don't work that well if you don't meet the minimum watts. Problem was, my cab was rated for 500 watts, and they recommended 400 watts minimum to push it. So having to match gear like that might be difficult. FWIW I'm using a 600W amp with mine.

Tough to say, cause I saw it from down in the audience (right against the stage though), but they sound really freakin' clean+meaty. Which is a good thing for basson (because they sounded good) and a bad thing for Tracii Guns because he played like shit

At the time, I remember, that was the first show of BoD tour, and they were one of Basson's biggest endorsers (Nikki Sixx is on their frontpage even today). As such, the whole backline was Basson stacks and there was about a dozen Basson techs/crew setting the thing up.

I haven't played one myself, but from everything I've heard it's comparable to the standards, like Vader, etc. If I was anywhere near Sam Ash, I'd definitely try one out.
