It's close-ish. The drums aren't quite right. They sound like a real drummer, but not the kit in the original song. The guitars are muddy, the mix is all wrong. It's damn close, and sounds damn close to real amps, but I still wouldn't confuse the real one with the cover. I mean, I've only previously heard the song in Guitar Hero, but I immediately thought "No...this is all wrong, it's not even close".

And this is coming from a Line6 user.

Oh, im not talking about it being spot on.

If I sent you the cover track in the mail, after you have heard the "studio" version, and I told you it was a pre-mastered/rough mixed track, I dont think it would be a stretch of imagination that it was.

The guitars are a little more fizzy then the recording (common 5150 imo), the parts are a little more "open" then the recorded ones (the record sounds more dense, in a sense), and the bass doesn't ring through. So Im not without my little tweaks, but when I first heard/saw this I was like "Hmmm, thats cool"

Definitely close but even with these so-so speakers I'm using with my computer (Logitech Z-10's) I'm still hearing a good amount of fizz on his guitars versus the original version... so yeah it's close but not enough to mistake it for the original on this one. "Remarkably close" is not the way I would describe it, but it is decent for sure. Get rid of the fizziness and he's in business, but then again that seems to be what keeps the tube sound apart from the solid state tone!

I guess I could see that, but I'd still probably say "Wow, they need to re-track those guitars, because those amps sound muddy as hell." Though, that could be the pickups.

i believe there are great sounds to be had with digital modelers in a STUDIO environment. but they just do not hold up in a live situation or in combination with tube amps.

people also need to stop getting solid state and digital amps confused with each other. they are very different.

Wow man, that sounds pretty close and pretty cool. I've used Line 6 and those kind of amps for years and gave up on em because I don't have the time and patience to figure it out (Went to Randall instead). But you obviously know how to dial them in, good job!

+1 - too much bottom end and not enough definition in the mids on the cover version

Sorry, let me rephrase. You guys are on crack if you think that doesn't sound digital. Modeling and solid state just can't compare to tube.
