So I bought a 5150 cab yesterday...

And on the back it has an XLR input. If I connect this to lets say, my toneport, it should be able to record the amp, right? Or am I mistaken here?

Not if it's an input, an output yes, input no. I've never heard of any 5150 cab having an XLR before.

i think it would.. but you'd get much better results just mic'ing the cab.

also i've never heard of 5150 cabs having XLR in/outs - only the JSX cab. for some reason.

You'd be surprised what you can do if you take the mic out of the recording equation. It's way easier to plug and play with a speaker sim, or impulse than it is to get the mic position just right.

Actually, if you see the new 6505 cabs, they have the XLR as well, but the descriptions don't say if I can record with this input or not.
