Either he was really lazy and stupid, or just a really bad scammer. Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known. http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/gen...ml#post1166807 Buy my sunglasses! ![]() |

![]() | Hey guys, I've been a lurker for a while, I post regularly on Mx as Zed_Leppelin. I was just browsing and found this thread, thought I'd post some thoughts. First off, I'm a Fraud specialist at eBay, and I deal with these situations all day long. While I'd like to say most of the fraudsters get taken off the site proactively, BEFORE they rip someone off. Unfortunatley, some of them slip through. Being the one that sends "Sorry we can't help you emails" from ebay, at first I was like Wow we really can't do anything? but after a year now of working in fraud, its somewhat understandable, most of these fraudsters sign up with false information, and proxy ip's so its gonna be hard to find them off the interweb. when buying, the most important things to take into consideration. recent feedback for selling: MOST fraudsters will either be brand new accounts, with no selling feedback, always look at what kind of items theyve sold in the past, if your buying an amp, your looking for music related things. Also be aware of account takeovers, which are usually older accounts, with no recent feedback history. mind you those are less common and usually get taken care of pretty fast. Paypal is the safest way to go, but theyre not as safe as you think. Be aware on the right side of auctions theyre will be a paypal buyer protection dealy on the side. this is how much your covered, paypal covers up to 2000 most of the time, but only if the seller has over 50 fb. If not its 200. Just something to consider. Never send a check or money transfer, if western union ever comes up, back out immediately, 99% of the time its a scam. Stock photos are always suspicious, if they have a stock photo or no photo, definately don't bid until you request some pictures of it, and if he hasnt taken some pictures, ask him to include a peice of paper with his username in the picture. The best thing I can suggest, if you think something is too good to be true, is at the bottom of the listing, look for a report this item link. Click on the link and itll take you to a contact page. Go to Fraudulent listings ---> You suspect a listing is fraudulent and you did not bid. This basically sends the user into my tool were, I, for example, would go over EVERYTHING associated with this guy. And basically decide if he poses a risk to the community, we usually view the case within six hours. Our accuracy is around 95%, which is really good. I can't really go into detail with what we do as its super secretive, but just know that I'm looking out for ya, I mostly specialize in the music part of the site, as thats what I know the best. |

![]() | oh and another thing, I noticed you mentioned that his phone was disconnected, you can report that to ebay and they'll make him add a proper number so he doesnt mess with anyone again without a number they can get him at. And ebay will call him to test the new number as well. Just a thought |
