Ts7 + pod = squeal problems?
so as the title says, both me and my other guitarist run a ts7 into a pod, both with different settings, and when we are doing some chuggy stops, feedback/squeal. we've both messed with the gates on the pods, and it's gotten better, but it's not gone. i dont have the problem if i use the screamer thats on the pod, just a real one.
i know allot of guys on here use them, any advice? i'm close to going out and buying an external gate like a decimator, but i wanna know if anyone has any suggestions before i add more gear to my setup. thanks! |

I have the same problem. The POD really doesn't handle a lot of output that well. First off throw the PAD switch on the back of the POD near the guitar input jack. Then turn the level control down on the pedal to about no higher than a 1/3. It says specifically in the manual you can't crank the output on your pedals cause the POD doesn't handle it well.
I had to switch the PAD on after I got the M7 cause the POD went squeal crazy from that output. That's one of the drawbacks with the PODs I guess. I'm sure overs have different solutions. But this is what work for me. Hope this helps! |

Are you just getting extra noise, maybe? I have a similar problem with my Bloody Murder pedal and my POD X3. It seems fine otherwise, but I'm getting a lot more noise from the OD than I was with my previous setup.

nah, i dont think it's really noise. just if i do a few quick palm mutes and then a stop say, i'd get feedbacky-squeal. at practice tommorow i'll mess with my setting on it and see if i can clean it up a bit more. it really just seems like the pod's gate cant keep up with it, it's too much for it... and setting it any higher totally kills any long sustain

It's because you're hitting the input with more gain than it's made for. Nearly ANY amp, modeller, etc... will give you feedback in this situation. It's just the nature of the beast. The noise gate on the POD is equivalent to putting a gate in the loop of an amp and won't do a damn thing to help preamp feedback. You need a gate in front of the pod. I used to use one after my boost but recently switched to using it right after the guitar. I don't get feedback now unless I want it. I rest my hands on the strings and I get dead silence. If you're pressed for cash the Behringer noise reduction pedal is NOT THAT BAD AT ALL!!! It will fix your problem.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENT AMPLIFICATION - STOMP BOXES - NOISE REDUCER NR100 : Ultimate Noise Reduction Effects Pedal I can't tell the difference between it and the Boss NS-2, it's actually the same thing made with cheaper materials. If you've got the money the Decimator can't be beat! |

or you can sell all your PODs and ENGLs and buy a Brunetti Pirata 141 and not have to worry about any feedback/ squealing even with a TS in front!
![]() but nah, seriously, try tweaking the output level of the POD... when i threw high ouptut pickups (ie, EMGs) it was too much for Line 6 to handle. |
