i've heard them described as "the poor man's recto."

the one i tried, while not quite matching up to the recto that it kind of sounds like, did sound really good for the money.

I remember that zepp88 IIRC, said that with a tubes change it sounds very good.

ive played on the at100 heads a few times and they do kinda have a recto type sound to them, it helps that they have a tube rectifier. but i find that they are hit or miss. it must be a quality control issue or something or maybe just the inconsistancy of the cheap parts used because a few ive played on have sounded great and a few of them have sounded horrible. not to mention they break easily. i would stear clear of em to be honest with you

I wouldn't throw one off of a building for fear of the sound of it hitting the sidewalk sucking. I've never played a good sounding one, and the guitarist in my old band had his in the shop three or four times for the same problem.

for the money, its not a bad amp. but its no 2 channel dual rec or invader 100. My buddy has one that his friend tweaked a little, and it really added some much needed presence to the thing. You wont get the tones i suspect you want. I think you're better off buying something on teh bay
