![]() | Retubing Engl Powerball I've had this beast for a few years now, and even though it still sounds good to my ears, I think it is time to retube. As it came with a set of Ruby's and JJ's, I was thinking about just tossing them in there, but would like to hear your opinion on such matter. Do you guys have any experience with this? Cheers and Happy New Year! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Are you just looking to retube? JJs are a great way to go; I just retubed mine about a month ago with them and it was NIGHT AND DAY difference. If the tubes are a bit old, I'd go ahead and change them. Eurotubes - bob is a great guy to work with ![]() retubing the pball is easy. take off the back, pull out the old and in with the new. make sure they are secure!! If you can have the bias checked it would vastly help the integrity of the amp and its tone. Ramen! |

![]() | Cheers! Yeah, the tubes I have in there are at least 2 yrs old..that said, the preamp tubes I got with it are of two different kinds, 2 of JJ ECC 83S, and the other two are of unknown kind, they only have 100/100 marking on them and they were packed in a box thats a bit too big for them..a bit too hesitant on throwing them all together in there, maybe I'll just get another pair of JJ's. Any opinion on the Ruby 6L6's? |

![]() | retubing the JJ's are balanced for you and eurotubes will match them for whatever sound you want, especially in the preamp section. get a bias probe and a multimeter from them and you are good to go. When I biased mine the bias was set to 24, and the powerball is supposed to run inbetween 35 and 42. huge difference after I adjusted needless to say. If you have any questions or anything call eurotubes or email me , I'd love to help a fellow 7 stringer. |

![]() ![]() | If you want to clean up your sound, and can deal with getting rid of a bit of your gain (your amp has plenty to make up for the loss, trust me), try a JAN-Philips 5751 for V1. I've heard it does wonders for Engl's. Your ass here! |
