Hmm. Research is required.

Dino should do an awesome gear whore DVD.

This is a 180 for me. But the more I fool with shit the more I think that kind of setup would be the most fitting for my style and taste. Fear Factory/Meshuggah sounds...

Anybody have Vetta II success stories? Or any other good alternatives to reaching a similar goal?
Dude...I have the Vetta...Its insane...and the second version is even more insane...Its solid not tube but it doesn't matter, If it's good enough for Meshuggah then its good enough for us haha. Vetta II's aren't expensive whoever said that is a tight arse, they are 1,699 new...which is like 2.3k in New Zealand where im from...GO FOR IT

Dude I was mulling this over a WHILE ago

Regardless, I'd probably pick up a Vetta to use in an Industrial setting, which is possible in the future.

Right now though, I'm doing Death/Doom stuff, and my Dual Rec works quite nicely for that.

Still crossing my fingers over a VettaValve.

7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels.

That would be amazing Rick.

I actually got to jam with my friend who was a Spider Valve, it did a good job keeping up with my Dual Rec and they complemented each other well, the Spider Valve gets close to a Dual Rec, but more high mid focused (with a 1960a cab that is) it still lacks that "something" though.

A Vetta Valve would probably own in large degrees.

Ugh, I can think of nothing worse than a 'tube' Line 6 like the SpiderValve, other than an EXPENSIVE 'tube' Line 6 like a hypothetical Vetta Valve. I really feel like Line 6 are the worst sounding amps on the market today. Each and every one of 'em sounds like plastic shit live.

I'd advise investing in something nicer, but that's just my opinion. There are better solid-state amps than this, it's not even a tube snobbery thing (although, let's be real there's a good reason why almost all our favorite bands use tube amps).

How much experience have you had with the Spider Valve, Nick? It didn't seem too bad to me.

Of course, the Dual Rec was stomping on it a bit

Thank you. It's always nice to hear a voice of reason. All the line 6 amps I've come across sound awful. They just sound like toys...computers imitating what real amps sound like..and badly. They sound plastic and fake and downright bad

+1 As you always say Nick, tweaking one in a store for an hour isn't the same thing as bringing it home and REALLY playing around with it. I found it sounded pretty damn good for what it was and a few guys on TGP got some awesome tones out of it IN A BAND ENVIRONMENT. It is easy to shoot stuff down after playing it for a few minutes or an hour or so in store. Heck, the first time Dave and I hung out at GC we played around with an Ultra Lead and I was quite disappointed with it (as was he I believe, IIRC) but I'm not going around saying, "oh man VHT is a piece of crap! I played one for 30 minutes and it was absolutely terrible, I've played _______ that sounded 10000x better than that!" because that wouldn't be cool basing an opinion on that short amount of time spent with an amp. Aren't you also the guy who throws out, "swap the tubes and re-bias ________ and that amp sounds ten times better!" in so many threads? Many of the dudes who got great tones out of them on TGP did just that and it definitely sounded different (and better IMO) than they did stock. Sorry, just don't get the snobbery... I'm not a Line 6 fanboy by any means (I've owned almost their entire line and one point or another and have sold all of them wishing I hadn't bought them, with the exception of the SV) but the Bogner-designed power section actually did something right with their amps for once.
