![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Amp questions; PT. II As I am adamant now about getting a Mesa Boogie cabinet, I was looking at this Mesa page of cabs . I scrolled through each one, pausing at the Roadster cabinets. I'm not sure which one is the best, though, so please push me in the right direction. I hit 2x12, and noticed the wattage was 120. Now, assuming I get something like a Dual Rectifier, it says 100 watts. Now, I always read here that you should get 2x the wattage it says on the head for the cab. Now I ask you, since I will not be playing that loud and hopefully will get an amp of around 50 watts, but in case something occurs and I do get a 100 watt amp, is a 2x12 with this wattage OK if I never crank the volume? The rectifier cabinet 2x12 horizontal has 120, same with the stiletto. Like I said, if you point me to a great sounding 2x12 I'll take it into consideration. ...Anyone. Oh, in fact, another question. I see a lot of people have stacked heads on top of one another, but do use multiple cabinets. Is it possible to put an amp on top of another amp, with just one cabinet? What I'm thinking the person does is split their guitar jack into two, and have two cables plugged into the two heads, which are into two cabs. Last edited by Xtremevillan; 12-18-2007 at 04:35 PM. ![]() ![]() | If you're after a Mesa, check out the 3/4 back Mesa cab, it has C90's in it, so 180w all up. Should be fine for a 100w head, and it sounds great with my 50w too. With the 2 amp question, I THINK (can someone confirm?) if you have a cab that can do stereo, you could plug one amp into each side, assuming you get the ohms right. Using this method I guess you'd need to split your signal fromt he guitar. Alternatively, you can use one head for the preamp and use the second head for a poweramp, where you wouldn't need to split your signal. Or, as you said, you could split the signal and use 2 amps and 2 cabs. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thank you for answering the questions! How do C90's compare to V30's? But let's say I get a Dual Rectifier, which IS 100W, would either cabinet be "safe" enough to handle it? The 2-amp-2-cab seems much more simple and cooler to me, I was just wondering, haha. |

![]() ![]() | I'm not too sure about the V30/C90 comparison or the wattage questions, I'm kinda learning this stuff myself. Try google? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Most people vastly prefer C90s to V30s for metal. V30s are a supreme rock speaker and are known for their mid spunk. C90s roll back on the mids, open up more power handling, and have an end result of a smoother tone that helps tame the presence and power of amps like rectos. They are tighter in the low end and don't have the mid honk that the V30s do. with that said, I have a Mesa 212 Vert with V30s and my PBall loves it. My Rectos sounded great, but I imagine a C90 loaded cab would have sounded better. I'm contemplating grabbing a pair of C90s myself for my cab, but for now I'm content. Once I grab a Pittbull UL I'll be a bit more critical since I 'hope' it will stay my main amp for a LONG time ![]() Ramen! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | So, if you're looking to grab a recto, I'd find a cab that sports C90s; it will most likely take to the recto more than a V30 cab. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thank'D, I think the 3/4ths WILL do! Now all I have to do is decide which head. I'm thinking of going with the Single Recto or Dual Recto. Or whatever costs less on eBay. PS; how are you posting twice in a row? :? |
