BTW if you use an attenuator like I did you probably will need to retube every year because you're running the power section harder.
I ordered it through the Guitar Center in Tacoma since the GC in Seattle isn't a Mesa dealer for some reason, so I just asked the dude for a 2x12 recto cab with C90s. Though I sold it later and bought an Orange 2x12 which is rated at 200 watts IIRC. Also: Bloody Murder. ![]() |

Ironic: I was going to get an Orange right after the Mesa. Can I ask you how much you paid for the 2x12 Recto w/C90's? And if you ever need to dump the Orange, gimme a PM, I'm sure to have some money by then.

Personally, I've found the 3/4 back to have plenty of bass and a tight sound. But, VHT's are renowned for being very tight amps, so maybe that explains it more than the cab itself?
It'd be pretty easy to build a closed back panel also, if you don't want to wait for mesa to do a custom cab. |

Nah, just a Rect with C90's sounds good, everyone says it's good. I have no doubt your 3/4th is good, but I'm gonna be not playing live anytime soon.

Eh, I don't remember exactly how much I payed for it. I bought a ton of other shit that day too. I think it was like $400. I bought that and my RG1527 on the same day, which was my entire paycheck, but there was some other stuff too. I also got a big discount for buying a ton of shit at once, but I don't remember which item was discounted. I have to say it was a pretty badass cab though, I only sold it because theres this little guitar shop in Seattle that sells Orange gear and I was really impressed by the 2x12.
You can't have it though, since it went up in flames along with pretty much everything else I owned (including my $4k fucking violin ) when my house burned down. |

Well, that's assuming I can even GET the thing. Knowing GC, I'm gonna have to pay a shiteload.
And I'm gonna have to go in too ![]() Last edited by Xtremevillan; 12-20-2007 at 11:45 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

a word on wattage and volume, as i've seen most other things mentioned here, and you seem to say that 50 watts will be quieter than 100 watts.
for a tube amp, that really isn't true at all. the volume increases linearly with a logarithmic increase in wattage (erm, something ). basically, let's start with a 5 watt amp. if you want to double the volume (through the same speakers) you'll want a 50w amp. want to double the volume for 10w? you'll need 100w.point being, 50w is just as loud as 100w. really, when you get to anything over 30 tube watts, you shouldn't consider it a discussion on volume anymore, but more a discussion on headroom. more wattage means more headroom, which means you'll need to drive the power amp harder to get it to break up. this is why the Triple Rec, @ 150w, is a VERY tight amp.
I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. We'll cross the streams. |

I have a mesa 212 but it has V30s
![]() I'm getting a Hundred/CL - what are your thoughts on your 50? I fell IN LOVE with it at GC (both the Hundred and Fifty), but the Hundred has a half power switch anyways. I was going to get a UL but I found an INSANE price on one so I'm snagging it. Just curious since I don't see too many CL users/players
Ramen!
