I'd go with a Dual over a Single IMO, with regards to the Recto-verb (which is the only single I like). The Duals and triples aren't as harsh and just sound overall more musical.

Check out www.harymonycentral.com forums; they have a few deals on Mesa Triples. While you may not need or use all 150 watts, the headroom is nice and they are definitely the tightest rectos next to the Roadster. You will easily find Triples in the low $1ks, as well as Duals. You can't go wrong with either one. They sport three channels over the Single's two, and you have the rectifier switch which can be very useful at times (the Single does not; it relies exclusively on silicone diodes).

My $0.02

Ramen!

I loved the F30, but I hated the F100 and was indifferent about the F50

They are tighter in the low end and don't have the mid honk that the V30s do.

with that said, I have a Mesa 212 Vert with V30s and my PBall loves it. My Rectos sounded great, but I imagine a C90 loaded cab would have sounded better. I'm contemplating grabbing a pair of C90s myself for my cab, but for now I'm content. Once I grab a Pittbull UL I'll be a bit more critical since I 'hope' it will stay my main amp for a LONG time
I'm using the 2x12 C90 cab with a 50/CL and it sounds great. If the UL isn't too different to the CL it should suit well, but apparently they sound best with VHT cabs, so look into them too.

As for two heads running into one cab.. Most folks don't do it. ground issues between the two cause background noise. you can safely run two heads into one cab if each pair of speakers is run to a separate jack and insulated from each other. Which is why some A/B switches are better than others. Not to say it can't work if they share a ground but it can cause problems especially with two high gain amps

Speaker,,, there are a lot of good ones out there. The ones you typically hear new at the shop don't sound like they do when they are broken in. Also they will sound different from cabinet to cabinet. Your best bet is to try used ones with some hours on them...

I love the way my cab is set up, but I wonder if getting C90s sometime would be a better bet. hm

Alright, so I've decided on the Mesa 3/4th cab, that's done.

And you're saying if I do get the 100W head, I WILL be safe using it plugged into this cabinet. Now all it looks like I have to do is save up a little more and get my shit. Then see which amps are up for auction or something, and go for that.

Now my semi-final question: biasing. How much is that gonna cost, on top of the $150/yr tubing? I assume Guitar Center does it, but I never want to go there (small shops F T W )

i would reccomend going with the rectifier cab as opposed to the 3/4 cab, you wont get the bass you need for metal with an open back

Also, depending on how much you play, you probably won't need to retube EVERY year on the year. Maybe every two years or something.

Biasing is a tricky, but effective way to maximize your amps potential. I need to have mine done but I'm also skeptical on where to take it. A local shop is more privvy to these things, seeing as GC would have to send it off somewhere
