Mesa's treble knob is one of the craziest amp knobs you'll ever encounter.

As you roll it back, the amp sweetens up, compresses a bit, and has a lighter touche. As you push it forward it obviously brightens up, but it gets crisp and the gain becomes more saturated. Mesa doesn't take each knob at a time; they make them all blend together so you have INFINITE possibilities. The highs affect the lows, the mids affect the highs, etc. They are NOT individual like most amps

Ramen!

So you could literally spend days trying to get your own sound?

That sounds both good AND bad.

Days?

hahahahahahaha

Try months - years. I never had mine more than a few months, but I doubt I had the same settings each practice, show, etc.

You can tweak and tweak and tweak and never find an ending to different possible sounds.

I've got my Triple pretty much dialed in now, but it still gets tweaked when I record with it. Mesas are really not "set and forget", but once you get a grasp of how the EQ interacts (I'm still kinda hazy on the clean channel), you can get what you want - and sometimes find things you'd never expect.

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

Tweaking can be a good and bad thing; it just depends on how you approach it and how patient you are.

Also, your ears are the biggest variable in the equation. you'll coax an amazing tone one day, come back the next day and hate it. It's part of being a musician above all, but you have to at least have fun with it

Try KT-77's in your JSX . If you like the Dual Recto type of tone, the KT-77's bring the JSX more towards that type of tone than EL34's do.
With my Loomis I can get a great crunchy "Engines of Hate" type of tone (and this is on the Crunch channel with tha gain at around 4 (with my clean boost in front).

After seeing G3 and the Petrucci "rig" video that someone posted , I've
been gasing for a Mark IV

Can I be the devil on your shoulder?
