![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Is 50 watts really enough? Hey guys, i am back an forth, i think i am going to go with a 5150 , but there are so many great heads for about the same price or a little more that are 50 watters, but is that really loud enough? the drummer i play with beats the shit out of his drums and my bassist has loud shit, and the singer is loud as fuck too. i could get a fancier sounding 50 watter, but i'm afraid its not loud enough. the 5150 is crushing, probably the same or a little cheaper(than a vht, mesa, engl...) and its 100 watts, whats a guy to do?? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 5150 is 120 watts to be exact . to answer your question, 50 tube watts is plenty loud to keep up in a band situation. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I had a 50 watt Mesa Single Recto that was fucking LOUD!!! Yngwie plays 50 watt heads, and he's obnoxiously loud. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | HA! Totally. Lots of gold jewelry embedded in your sweaty chest hair past the pirate foofoo shirt increases loudness as well. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | IRCC Yngwie uses 2 serial connected amps. But Fredrik Thordendal had the f-series 50 watt mesa boogie for a while and that seamed to work, haake is a pretty loud drummer. Productive Desecration Since 2004 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 50w is plenty loud, that shouldn't be an issue. What you do run into quicker on a 50w amp is power stage distortion. You'll find 100w stays a little tighter for the same given volume level, which can be beneficial if you're playing low tuned metal. Transformer design, tube types, circuit design, and biasing are big things here too. A well executed 50w amp will decimate a poorly executed 100w amp. |
