![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Also, a big, big, BIG part of dB output is speaker efficiency. 100w will theoretically give you a 3dB increase in volume over 50w - not a lot, but noticeable. You could easily lose that advantage by using inefficient speakers (say, as speaker efficiency of 98dB instead of 101dB). Losing 6 - 10dB is generally perceived as a 50% reduction in volume. |

![]() | My 50W Engl screamer is plenty loud, though oddly sometimes doesn't seem as loud as the Boogie DC3 I had as a loner when the amp was giving me problems... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I play a 20w head and it's INSANELY loud you should know that to double the percieved power you should double your current power 3 times. So an amp twice as loud as mine would be 160w ![]() Speakers are also a good part of amp loudness, I went from V30 to G12 Century and it boosted output by 1/3 ![]() Meshuggah's Drunken Sponge Extraordinaire ![]() About Ozzy and Zakk : "I much rather have the earth swallow them both up, and spit out a confused Randy Rhoads, talking about falling asleep in a plane and waking up in 2007." - Noodles Become one of us or die, fuckers. - Rick Bloody Murder #5 |

![]() ![]() ![]() | my 60w with a 4x12 loaded with Celestion G12T-75's is insanely loud.... It gets well into the range of loudness where your ears can no longer distinguish notes, just a wall of noise attacking your head. Unless I wear earplugs, but even then it only helps a little bit... my mother.... she never loved me. She always says she wishes shes was a raped by someone else ~Borat |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just went to an audition the other night with my 60 watt amp. Kept up very well with the other guitarist's 100 watter, bass, drums, vocals, and keys. I was a little disappointed with my tone (I've never had that amp cranked so loud), but that little bastard was plenty loud. ![]() I am the mask you wear. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I used to own a 60 watt 5150 combo that was ridiculously loud (especially thru a 4 x 12 cab). a 5150 head will give you lots and lots of volume. When Drew stopped by my house a few months ago he bought his rectoverb 1 X12 combo with him (I think it's 50 watts) and it was easily as loud as my JSX thru a 4 x12 cab. so what am I saying? don't just look at wattage, look at brand and model and look at speakers, 25 watt greenbacks won't keep up with C90's they all put out different levels. Can I be the devil on your shoulder? ![]() |
