Carvin V3 questions....

Anybody ever use one of them before? I'm interested to know if they can do some good metal tones or not. All the reviews I've found have been those retarded "This amp can do everything from the Beetles to making your guitar sound like a team of bicyclists riding by with baseball cards in their spokes" reviews. I haven't really been able to find anything all the helpful.

I am the mask you wear.

I'm not a fan at all. The lead player in a band I produced had one and I couldn't get much of anything useful out of it tone wise. In fact even at moderate volumes it was bright, thin, buzzy, and cold sounding. We ended up using my Vetta for his tracks 'cuz it was warmer sounding. Who knows maybe his was a lemon. I did sound for them a while back and that night he had the worst tone I've ever heard from any amp.

The one I heard must have had issues, it sounded nothing like that at all. Maybe it was user error too though?

I love mine.

I will admit, it took me a crap load of time adjusting all those knobs to get an awesome tone, but I have definitely found the sweet spot.

I think it's definitely more of a lead amp, but I can easily get that Petrucci "Under A Glass Moon" solo tone.

It also does a pretty good Recto impression

But as far as the gain on it, I wouldn't be worried. It definitely does all I need it to for metal, and I never put the gain past 3 o'clock.

Yeah, from what I have heard, all of the fizz that everyone mentions can be dialed out with the presence knob. Im still torn between a divinity and a v3. v3 because of the midi capabilites and 3 independent channels, madison because of the overall tone.
