This is the best looking half stack ever
I didn't want it to get buried in the Orange thread going because my GOD I have never seen a stack that looks this good before. I WANT ONE, SO BAD!

They sound fantastic. The guy from Katatonia plays a Matamp and I love his tone, but they are generally pretty dark and mid-heavy if I remember right. Really, really british, in the vein of an Orange AD140 or something, if I remember right.

That physically looks an AWFUL lot like an Orange. The beveled bezel around the cabinet's face, the "pull handles" on the face of the head. Wrap that sucker in orange tolex and change the logos, and it's quite strikingly similar. Only this looks pretty hot in white.

Well, back in the day, there was Matamp. Matamp made all these different "colors" of amps that were badged different but were all actually Matamps. So there was Matamp, then Green (with green tolex and a Green logo), Red, Black, White, and Orange. For some reason, Orange split off from Matamp but didn't change a damn thing about how they did things, so the cab designs were totally unchanged. Matamp until very recently could still make Orange cabs but they ran out of the tolex.
But really, the Orange cab is just a copy of a Matamp cab that has spun off and become more popular over here. So it was really Matamp that came first, and Orange is still ripping off their designs ![]() |

I was going to say the same thing. They're badass amplifiers. Anders and Fred have custom Matamps with the Katatonia logo for the grille, it's fucking badass looking. |

I actually don't like the look of that at all, to be honest. But I only mention that because everyone's tastes really are different.
Cool pic and post, regardless. Gear is always cool, even when one finds it somewhat distasteful.
