Is this a good deal? (orange content)
Hello ss.org buddies and chums. I've got an offer recently for a trade. My Microcube for an Orange Crush 15 and 19USD. Here's the lowdown:
My M-cube has been with me for 2 years, the tones are alright but it lacks proper eq controls. the effects are nifty but not essential. It has 2 minor scratches on them which are very hard to come by. The Orange Crush 15 is in mint condition, however it doesn't have an overdrive and cannot connect to PC. Albeit it has pretty good clean tones and eq controls. So, yeah is this a good deal? I think that if I get the Orange, as a temporary, I can use my Boss MD-2 as distortion (not as good as the cube distortion but workable) and then wait it out until Christmas and try to beg to the parents for a PodXT (or a Line 6 uber metal if they say no). Plus, not to mention the 19 bucks which could buy me a new cable. It might also benefit me in the long run if i accquire the PodXT since I could take it to uni (provided it don't shit out me) On the downside, I'm not sure if I could survive that long without some proper distortion (i do play a lot at the guitar store though) and without the PC line-out. Of course, the problems are remedied through the PodXT, but there's a chance of that not happening. After writing out the arguments and looking at them logically, I'm leaning slightly more towards the trade but I think I'd quite like a reliable second opinion. ![]() |

Not getting this at all, you are saying you like the tones you have already, just want a bit more control, but you'd give this up for an amp with no distortion at all, and have to use a roundabout method to get it, and it wont be as good as what you have?
Which would I rather have, a good tone with less control, or no tone with lots of control over how different I can get it to sound, yet still not get what I want? I'd say hold off, because if you do get the PodXT, then you have all the control you'll need right there, whereas if you dont, you wont be stuck without an amp without any form of tone you are after. |

Erm, kinda, more like:
Microcube: Good distortion tones, okayish cleans, PC-lineout, less control Crush 15: Good clean tones, no distortion, no pc-lineout, control Hmmm I guess I see your point though. If I were to get the PodXT and MCube, I wouldn't have to sacrifice distortion, just slightly better cleans on the Crush and I guess the EQ could be remedied from the Pod... looking at it mathematically, I guess it works out too: Microcube: 125$ Crush 15 (+19USD): 118$ i'm all confused now. ![]() ![]() |

Just sell the cube and get the pod sooner?

i would go for a slightly larger amp and a pod, but that´s me... 30 watts maybe, or at least a physically large one, as larger speakers and boxes sound better in general... and a pod, of course :P
so yeah...

I'm hoping I can snag the Pod for free at Christmas, and I'm waay frugal.

Depends how much clean stuff you play to be honest really.
I just wouldn't bolt on something that offers as many disadvantages as it does advantages, how its described, it really doesn't seem like an upgrade to what you have already. If the Crush had some form of distortion on it, then I'd say go for it, but it doesn't, so there just doesn't seem to be anything it can add to what you have. You'll get the control and better cleans if you get a PodXT anyway, so that negates any reason for having the Crush, and then if you dont manage to get the XT, then you aren't stuck with cleans and just about workable distortion. I suppose its not an option to wait until you see if you get an XT, then if you do, trade in then? |

the pod is your best bet. You can use it for recording and practicing. I also wouldn't trade the microcube for the microcrush if you're already ok with the tone of the microcube. After all, it's just a practice amp!
