![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 4x12: Angled vs Straight What would be better if I'm using a half stack? I've heard the straight has more bass, and depending where you stand with an angled cab it's brighter or something? Someone fill me in on this, I want to buy one of the ones Zepp has for sale. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It depends on the brand. For example, the Mesa recto cabs are identical, except the "straight" cab has a wider top... the top two speakers are still angled up. ...that the play is the tragedy, "Man" http://www.fools-game.com/ |

It largely depends on this thread I'm either going to be running my Gt-6 through a Crate Powerblock into it, or buy the tube head he has and use that as a power amp for my GT-6 into it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'd definitely go with angled. Straights dont have more bass, just less perceived highs because the treble is being shot below your ear level. I like how angled ones project and sound better. For a short time I had both versions of the VHT cab and the angled one won easily. |

![]() | pretty much, angled cabs (in my opinion) are meant for half stack only operation, not saying that that is the only course of action. if i moved to a fullstack, which i'd like, i would go with two straight cabs |

true that. angled cabs sound more consistent than straight ones as you move back and forth them because the upper speakers of an angled cab will be spreading highs more uniformly towards you. i've also played a straight 1960B before my ppc412 (angled) and the inconsistent sound (esecially the highs) were REALLY annoying. the drummer was getting his ears pierced by harsh highs i wasn't perceiving by standing about 6-7 foot away from my cab. now if you're like only 4-5 feet tall, a straight cab won't bother you ![]()

if i had to have only one 4x12, it'd definitely be angled. that's why i'm slightly iffy about Vader cabs, but it looks like i'll have the opportunity to try one out in a couple weeks.
