![]() I have a straight cab, and I regret buying it. Because It doesn't seem to project right. When I'm standing near it, it may not sound loud, but when I squat down it blows my head up. So the angled cabs definately help fill the room better, and help control volume levels.(because you won't crank it up to hear it when it's actually plenty loud.)
Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known.

Angled, for reasons that have already pretty much been covered. I have a straight cab now (Why doesn't Avatar make angled cabs anymore?
), and while there's nothing wrong with it at all, my angled Ibanez cab did project a bit better. At practice I'm normally sitting down a few feet away from the cab, though, so it doesn't make much difference to me. Live, if you're on a stage that's elevated from the crowd, a straight cab might work better for the audience (I'm guessing), but there probably won't be a huge difference there, especially if you're miced.

They both sound the same pretty much, but for half stacks go angled cause the sound is more directed upwards. Everyone's pretty much covered things.
It pisses me off that I can no longer get an angle Orange PPC 4x12 and the guys at the store weren't sure if I could still get it black, main reason I no longer want an Orange unless I found one used cheap. |

I'm an angled guy. For reasons already covered. I used to hate a straight cab that I had at my band's practice space and started experimenting with different cabs. I just liked the way that angled cabs sounded to me in practice and on stage. It was more consistant and didn't change as quickly based on where I was in relation to it.
The drastic change in sound is probably the main reason why people usually angle their small combos and 2x12 cabs. Better projection of the high end.
I am the mask you wear.

I'm pretty sure avatar cabs are angled, the grill is straight on some models.
3 cheers for free gear!
