huh? what's not true at all? i was agreeing with you that most used ULs are good deals for buyers, not sellers. poor resale value for the seller... i was using carvins guitars for a comparison... maybe you thought i was talking about carvin amps?

What Bob said. You guys going through amps faster than I go through strings (literally - hi, Highgain510 ) confuse me a bit. I mean, an amp is such a fundamental part of your tone... I'd think if you're dropping serious cash on an amp, then you want to make sure the tone's RIGHT. Going from a Mesa to a VHT to a Diezel to an Engl to a Bogner and back to an Engl in the space of two months... I mean, these amps don't sound at all like each other. Since so much of your tone is dictated by your amp, I guess I don't see how you could really get "your" sound out of all of them...

Find what works for you, and stick with it.

+1 I could see getting stuff as a 2nd amp for a different flavor, or a backup, but unless you haven't found 'the amp' you're just chasing your tail buying amp after amp. I mean, I wouldn't mind a 5150, but I'm not selling my damn Laney for one, ever.

Totally. You can have an amp, and just be messing around with settings and stumble on to badass sounds you didnt even think the thing had. you just gotta get to know them. spend some time with them.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

GAS can really get the better of you, I know.

I think one of the absolute best things you can do to ward it off, is just pick up the guitar, and play. It's very easy for that GAS to build up when you're reading stuff on a message board, with picstories, and new gear every 20 minutes.

get a Fireball as a backup. It's simple and fair-priced

I totally agree 100%, I had serious gas for something new for ages & tried loads of different Amps, the Engl Powerball really got me hyper but when I played it back to back with my trusty old 5150 it just pailed in comparison for what I needed it for.
I guess it's better to stick with what you know works for you but it sure is easy to give in to Gas temptation.
