Matt needs a mic.
If I sell this and grab an Engl for a bit less I will use some of the extra funds towards finally buying a mic. Long overdue, right? Perhaps that new mic that Metal Ken just picked up? From his description it sounds pretty sweet and not too expensive which is always a plus.

Any suggestions on specific preamp/computer audio interfaces to look into? I know almost nothing about that stuff.

![]() I think Reaper is supposed to be pretty good and free package for recording on Windows, I know the cross platform effects system it grew out of, Jesus Sonic, was pretty cool. Take this with a grain of salt as I don't have a mic yet myself, I just know computers and software

Pity about this fellow not working out.
Yeah, I can see how you'd be spoiled by the Engl's volume friendliness. Maybe you should've hung onto the SE? "Does the brain control you or are you controlling the brain? I don't know if I'm in charge of mine." - Karl Pilkington |

Ah well, here's hoping you get the Invader for a good price so.

Grab a SM57, Matt. The way you go through top-dollar amps, you can easily justify the $80 or so. That, a 2" stand, a cable, and an XLR-1/8" adaptor will let you make recordings through your sound card, but for better results you're going to want to eventually upgrade to a proper audio interface.

I shall look into the total cost of something like that Drew, thanks! I'm trying not to spend much right now (unless I sell this and buy an Invader with those funds) so I can get the Sherman 7 all paid off. ![]() Quote:
Thanks for the suggestion Mike. I haven't seen too many BadCat dealers down here so I haven't tried the Leash yet. Have you compared it to other attenuators before? I've never had the chance to use one so I'm clueless on that piece of gear.

The switchable ohm load and single dial impressed me. My friend who was with said it sounded better than the Hot Plate I tried, but I couldn't. (We were in a crowded local shop so I could really play with it for long.)

The more I think about it.... I was actually pretty happy with the spidervalve (other than the fact that I couldn't crank it) so I'm thinking of doing the following:
-sell the OD100SE+ -use the funds to buy a SpiderValve HEAD when they come out in 2 weeks (the combo doesn't have a 16-ohm output )-run that into my Orange cab which I absolutely ....ing LOVE, one of the best purchases I've ever made (although again, I 'ed my Vader cab too, just slightly prefer this one)-buy an attenuator to use with the Line 6, most likely a Dr. Z Airbrake (also switchable load too Mike! ) or maybe a BadCat Leash if I can find a dealer with one in stock that I can try out Affordable rig for less than half the cost (head is $799) and since I'm not gigging right now I don't think I "need" the Invader right away. I could use the Spider without pissing off the neighbors and the attenuator might allow me to get that power section going a bit more even in my apartment. Sound good?

If you were happy with the Spidervalve, I think its a good idea, best not asking me at the moment, I have Invader GAS like a bitch
![]() I'm almost tempted to say GET AN INVADER, but it may not be for the best. The only thing that gets me slightly is using an attenuator on a SpiderValve, I just have this (maybe unjustified) fear, that it'll end up sound like a POD at them volumes. Guess you just have to see. |

). The spidervalve sounds pretty decent at lower volumes so that's not a problem, I was just saying that if I wanted to try it opened up a bit more in the power amp section I'd have to get an attenuator for sure to keep the peace!

So, who's queueing up to buy the spidervalve head?
![]() The amount of amps you go through is insane man, so maybe an amp that does lots of sounds is more suited to your needs ![]() Then buy a head for gigging and keep both
