What's up with my Fireball :( ?!?

OK, so I got an ENGL Fireball head a few days ago, but my cab (80's JCM800 cab) was at my friend's so I didn't have a chance to give it a try...

...well, now that I have - I don't feel any better

There's terrible noise anytime I switch pickups or roll the volume pot! While decreasing guitar volume - there's so much noise - my whole family is at the door looking terrified

I tried two different cables, same two i used last night for a gig, and it was the same... I also tried both my JCM800 and my old SS practice amp and they played same as ever.

Is there anything I could/should try before calling the store? Fuck, i feel so bad now, this thing is way too expensive to not be working

That's fucking weird... I'd have pegged that as an issue with your guitar, but if your opther two amps aren't doing it... Do you have another guitar you could try, just in case?

I just called my friend to bring his guitar and some cables so I'll check that... tnx!

Just make SURE you have it connected to a cabinet once you take the amp off standby. That part matters a LOT, the guitar not so much.

No cabinet when you turn the amp off of standby = bye-bye power transformer!

Wee-ha it's the guitar

It seems this amp brings the worst in my guitar's cheap pots and electronics, but it works pretty good when paired with something decent. NS2 clears most of the mess but I still might buy some new pots(since new guitar is not really an option

)
