![]() ![]() | Hopelessly addicted to tube i'm just going to go ahead and say this. Even if tomorrow some company came out with an amp that was solid state and it sounded just as good as a tube amp i still would keep on buyin and loving tube amps. It's like the guitarist's crack(if your not a crack head, lol). |

As it is, I dig the fuck out of my Tech-21 Trademark-30. ![]() "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |

![]() ![]() ![]() | as long as it sounds good, i dont really care ,ahah. right now i use a vox valvetronix which is all solidstate and digital except for a little preamp tube somewhere between teh preamp and poweramp, and i dig it alot. especially with an overdrive infront to tighten it up/add some gain. sounds exceptional for bedroom jamming with my friend, which is pretty much all i do, haha |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | While I'm a tube snob too, I've heard some pretty awesome SS amp in the recent years : One of the new peavey bandit some guy was beating the shit out of with a les paul in a shop, it sounded just godly (might be the guy fingers too hehe). Or one of the big SS head from Laney wich sounded very tube like and was very punchy. Bloody Murder #5 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | well, it's not like there hasn't been put effort to mimic tube amps... at least preamp modelling has come pretty close IMO, but as for poweramps... well, that's my main complaint about SS amps. They just don't cut through well enough and the 'feel' it just not there. In my experience, most SS amps sound worse as you crank 'em up to stage volume. I find it interesting how line 6 is apparently giving up SS technology and combining modelling w/ tubes. After what i'm reading about the new spider valves, i'm really looking forward into a vetta valve ![]() |
