![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Eurotubers KT77 kit came in! So, i got the tubes for the JSX: hell. fuckin. yeah. I Just install the the 12AX7's (didnt know how to get those damn covers off), but here's what i found with the KT77's in alone: - the clean channel warmed up - incredibly tight low end - there is very little "thump" - very articulate: i cranked this thing up good (had the master on 10 and the volumes on 2 at one point), and the distortion NEVER sounded harsh - i took out the earplugs to be sure, and it is stellar! im now off to test out the 12AX7's, I'll update then! PS: when i asked about the RF shields on the 12AX7's, they took about 20 minutes to respond - im likin' that kind of customer service ![]() 3 cheers for free gear! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | doo it! I think im going to leave the JJ in V4 and change the rest back to EHX - the amp just seemed to have more balls. once the whole thing was JJ, it sounded stock again. mix n' match time! KT77 FTW though, no questions asked. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 7DT - the JSX Kit from Eurotubes was $101 before shipping, and for me shipping was $17 something. swapping tubes is fairly easy. i already knew how to swap power amp tubes because of the traynor, and i've tried the old 6L6's i have kicking around in said JSX. the preamp tubes have RF covers, and you just have to twist the cover and it should pop off - they're spring loaded. with the JSX, there was a little locking notch on the bottom half of the RF cover, and you have to line that up with the middle of the spring-loaded portion - this took me a good 5 minutes to figure out. like i said, retubing is pretty easy. I'm going to compare the JJ 12AX7's to the EHX 12AX7's (leaving the balanced JJ in V4) and see which tone i like more. i will have my roomie/drummer best friend around for a second opinion on what sounds best. unfortunately, i dunno if i'll be able to get any clips up - audacity isnt recognizing LAME at all, so i cant export as mp3 if i record something ![]() |

![]() | Eurotubes rocks!!! Bob Pletka is awesome to deal with. He actually returns emails...? Unheard of, right? I retubed my Dual Rec with one of his JJ kits. Soooo much nicer now. Although I put a Tung Sol back in the V1 spot. The clean is alot smoother now. I've used almost every tube company out there over the years. I think my Mesa amp is almost 15 years old now. JJ's are fantastic and the knowledge behind the retailer is worth every penny. |
