The XT Live can sound good with some post-EQ work (see: Bulb) and the GT-8 sounds terrible for high gain applications. The Digitech actually gets pretty close to emulating the original tube head, especially if you have the Supermodels CD. _________________________ "Ah, she's built like a steakhouse but she handles like a bistro" - ZB My Soundclick Page |

![]() | Here's my take on these three MFX units... GT-8 is the master of effects. All premium Boss effects and full control over them. Great clean sounds but terrible high-gain sonds. The GNX4 is a great MFX and has great high-gain sounds with the Supermodels CD. But IMO it's a jack of all trades master of none... The PodXT is awesome for high-gain patches if you know how to use it properly. Cleans are amazing but the effects are of lesser quality than the other two. AND you have to buy the model pack to get the really good high-gain amps... Up the shut fuck, you must. ![]() |

![]() | +1 to DeLO7.. But to elaborate a little further, I think a lot of people would agree that the GNX 3000 is a better choice than the GNX4. Also, if you're interested in experimenting with pitch shifters/harmonizers, the Pod doesn't have any. The other guitar player in the band I'm in uses a GNX 3K and I have a Pod XTL. To make a few more comparisons though, In my opinion: 1. The Pod's interface is a lot easier to navigate. 2. Gain wise they're both pretty good. With the Pod, you'll need the Metal Shop pack ($50) and with the GNX, you'd be best to get the MFX cd ($50) which will give you litterally hundreds of tone options. The big difference being that with the Pod, once the model pack is installed you can build a patch with any amp model either manually or with the editing software. With the GNX, the MFX models can only be used if you have access to a pc to load it in (unless you happen to have that particular model saved in a patch somewhere). 3. It used to be that the GNX had better in/out optons but now that the X3 is out, they've pretty much evened up the playing field. I hope some of this helps.. ![]() |

They should get rid of a few of those 'Tape Eater','Purple X' and a couple 'synth' effects and put in a good harmonizer or something because I have yet to find a good use for them. | |
