![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Attn: Orange dudes I've heard tonnes of stuff about how orange cabs are djentalicious but what about the heads? Are they any good for metal? Last time I tried one, it was with a strat and I was playing lots of bluesy stuff. Listening to some of the scarce YouTube clips, they sounded alright, but I value you guys' opinions mang. Thanks for any input. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | take a les paul, plug into a thunderverb, and dial on in. you should be doin pretty good. i have the feeling that the rockerverb series would do ok at heavier stuff as well, if you EQ'd it right note: i havent played any orange amps, but a few bands i like have some pretty sweet tone that they get with them. walked past 2 yesterday though :P 3 cheers for free gear! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am not that big of a fan of the Orange Rockerverbs. I haven't ever heard the Thunderverb though, so I couldn't comment on it.. but the Rockerverb to me is just an unexceptional Rectifier clone with a better clean channel, and they are really overpriced. The one time I was playing an Orange Rockerverb, I looked and saw it was only about $300 less then a Soldano Hot Rod... so I played the Hot Rod instead and was much happier with it. _________________________ "Ah, she's built like a steakhouse but she handles like a bistro" - ZB My Soundclick Page |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | not so much over-priced as stupid conversion rates.. also, orange is a knockoff of matamp - check 'em out if you're in the UK |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Orange is made in the USA man, it is not conversion rates at all... they just ask a lot of money for their fancy orange tolex Matamps are great heads (and they are 100% custom shop too), you could look into those. If you have ever heard Katatonia, that guitarist plays through a Matamp and his tone is AWESOME. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | orange is usa since when? pretty sure that they are UK first, USA second.. check the site :P either way, its conversion rates and the name on the front - just like everything else consumers buy |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | they aint really geared towards metal at all. More Rock and blues. You could get a monstrously good metal amp for a lot less money than an orange head |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the responses guys! I listened to some Katatonia, I can't say I really like their tone though. A few of the Orange metal youtube clips impressed me like I said, but Jim Root's Stone Sour didn't really do much for me. I guess I'll just have to try some Rockerverbs/Thunderverbs with my own guitar sometime. I love the orange tolex. ![]() |
