MXR M108 EQ vs. Boss GE7
Okay, help me out guys. Is the MXR 10-band eq really THAT much better than the BOss GE7 (7 band eq)? I already have a GE7 and don't want to spend $120 if it's no totally worth it. If you were in my position, would you fork down the $$$?
The eq is being run through the FX loop of my Engl Invader 100, as an FYI. Thanks. |

Sweet, you gots an Invader 100?
![]() I don't have either, but I was seriously considering getting the MXR one before, as most people I've talked to definetly prefered the MXR. |

Send me your Invader and I'll send you my MXR EQ! You can keep it as long as you like!!!
Seriously though, I think the MXR is far superior to the Boss! I've had both too! |

Thanks for the feedback.
Since the Invader has 2 FX loops, I'll probably bite the bullet and buy the MXR. This way I can run the boss through FX1 and MXR through FX2. FX1 serves as my lead and 'other' loop; FX2 is strictly my heavy, rhythm loop. I've found (and many other it seems) that running an eq through the fx loop really allows me to explore all of the sonic possibilities of the amp. This is especially true with the Invader for some reason (and not so true with my Triple Rec, IMO). Making tiny tweaks radically change the sound of the amp. Additionally, the invader has a very distinct midrange. Not really honky, but very pronounced and biting. The eq REALLY smooths this out when necessary. Especially when you want that scooped sound. At some point I'll post a review of the Invader. I'll compare it to my Triple Rec, which I've been using exclusively for years in SoCal. I purchased my Triple Rec after the sound guy at the Whisky told me my Line 6 sounded like muddy crap (over the PA, while the opening act was watching). I thought this might amuse some people. Anyhow, the Invader is so freakin different (than the Triple) and incredibly dynamic, I have a feeling that it will be a while before I can really draw some solid conclusions. Late. |

I've always used the MXR with my amps, but I've never tried the Boss.
The MXR always seems to do the trick.
Can I be the devil on your shoulder?
