I think the Blackmore can do pretty much anything. I got to play one several times at band practice, and I could easily get an oldschool thrash sound, press a button, fiddle with the knobs a little, and get a great modern metal sound. This was all without a boost. It handles the low-B very well. The cleans are amazing as well.

it's Megadeth7684's favorite amp other than the 5150 and he's hugely into B tuning and melodeath bands.

It can definitely do a Nevermore-style sound, it's a very tight amp. Didn't try to get a Cannibal Corpse-tone, not a fan of that type of sound. It can probably do it, especially with a boost in front. One thing about this amp is that it doesn't have the kind of insane gain levels that Fireball and Powerball have. I found the whole gain range usable, and I ended up running it at a little less than half for a modern rhythm tone.

Don't worry about the name, it can do metal very well. But I'm thinking you might be happier with a Fireball...

Well, i use about as much gain as that Zelda PT 3 thing i did. Its not over the top, but i like to have some reserves ya know? Also i noticed that most ENGLs advertise 6L6s and this one says 5881s in the power section. Arent those a certain type of 6L6? Im kind of a tube noob so bare with me.

Don't worry, I'm a tube noob, too. All I know is EL34 and 6L6 sound different.

It has plenty of gain, you shouldn't have any trouble getting as much as the Zelda thing and way more. It just doesn't have as much as a Fire/Powerball.

how is the 100 different from the 150? have you ever played the Invader 150? i liked my Savage 120 the best of the three when i tried it side-by-side with a Powerball and an Invader 150.
