I got screwed...

I was trying to buy a Ground Control Pro from a member named headshot over on Huge Racks Inc. Forums and everything seemed fine, he replied promptly and gave me pics and knew his gear and whatnot and gave me little cause to think he was a scammer (even though he said he didnt have ebay feedback and he had like 30 some posts on that forum, but then again i can be too trusting and i was supposed to get the unit at a great price and in mint condition). But since i sent him the money thru paypal i havent received a single message back from him and of course the package is not here. It has been 5 days now and i have sent many follow up emails and not a word back from him or anything.
So i am glad i paypal'd the money as i am issuing a claim, and im giving him 24 hours to reply to that(which im positive he wont given the fact that he has ignored the other emails) and then im going to escalate the complaint to the point where paypal will investigate and decide what action needs to be taken.

This is partly ranting, but also i have been wondering if other people have dealt with paypal like this and how did it turn out? Do you guys have any tips you can offer or is there anything you think i should do before escalating the claim or just in general.

Anything you guys can tell me would be much appreciated! And of course if any good member here has either a GCX or Ground Control Pro for sale, please let me know haha!

Thanks dudes

misha

No personal experience with dealing with them in case of a scam but from what I heard they should be able to refund you completely in case of a scam like that, so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I would have waited a little longer than 5 days before filing a claim (don't they require it to be at least 14 or 30 or something like that before they allow you to file? The dude might just be out or something, but I agree, if he's totally avoiding contacting you he might be trying to pull something shady so it's good not to wait TOO long! Hope it all works out for you Misha, sucks when you get stuck with a douchebag seller!

Its one thing if he sends me an email sayin he hasnt gotten around to sending me the item yet, but its another when he all of a sudden stops replying to all of my emails when before i paid it took him less than a day to reply.
I mean its possible (but unlikely) he isnt trying to scam me and something just happened to him, but either way at this point i want my money back!

I really hope he's not a scammer and you get your gear. 'Cause great gear at small price is uncomparably better than having your money back.

Nope. As a matter of fact, you only have 30 days after the sale to file a dispute. Five days of no contact, I'd be filing a dispute, too.

Bulb, have you contacted the admin/mods from BigRacks? They should try to get a hold of the guy for you, and ban him if he refuses to do anything about it.

Ah okay I wasn't positive about that, I haven't had to file a claim for a looooong time. Guess I've been lucky! Again, hope you either get the gear or your funds back soon!

Spinedriver is a jewel in the rough
Funny thing, I bought a pickup from an online store and have been trying to get the pickup/my money back for about 2 weeks now and was basically getting brushed off. This morning I opened a claim with Paypal and wrote a nice long letter to go with it. I checked this afternoon and 'voila' my money was returned. So I guess once they figured I was getting kind of upset they decided it was better to just give me my money back.
