Help! amp problems

I recently bought a Line 6 Spider III of someone on Craigslist. I tried it out extensively at his house and nothing seemed wrong with it, so I wasn't worried about it breaking because most faulty electronics break within the first month or so and he had had the amp for a while.
As I left his amp, he told me I could have the Line 6 Pedal switch too for free. Sweet deal.
So I get it home and it's working really well. No feedback even with tons of distortion on and so many different sounds.
On the second day I had it, I try to get the pedal to work and I couldn't get the wah function working. It had a footswitch underneath the pedal which always pisses me off. My pedal has that and you really need to jam your foot on it to get it to switch. So I'm kicking the hell out of this pedal just getting more and more frustrated at why I can't get the wah to work and after a kick the amp suddenly starts hissing. I turned it off and uplugged it and just let it sit for a while scared to death that I just broke it.
So now it gives me feedback when I put on distortion and besides that it works ok, but I really need a clean noise when using distortion. The Noise Gate function on it doesn't stop the noise either.

Anyone know what might have happened or what I should do?

Maybe the wah-wah is stuck on now? It will make your amp hiss & feedback when left on. Try stopming on the switch some more & see if you can turn off the wah.

My friends flextone's power-amp section died.. all it would do is feedback. The flextone I HD was notorious for this.

You kicked the amp?

Um, what I would to would be to note for future reference that amps don't like to be kicked. Next, I'd bring it into a repair guy and explain the problem.

Any way to record a sound clip or something? Does it sound like the wah's on in treble position? It's possible somehow that kicking it tricked it's internal circuitry into thinking it was always on...

How exactly one troubleshoots an amp that's basically a computer chip, though, is beyond me. Is Line6's warrantee transferable? An exchange might be your best bet.
