![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Vader vs. Mesa/C90 I've got an offer on my 1x12 3/4 back C90 mesa cab and thinking of using the money on a vader 2x12 to put under the Mark IV. I really dig the C90sound, so I just wanna make sure that I'm not making any deals I'll regret. I trust this forum's opinions more then anywhere else anyway so might as well ask here. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Eh, I really don't like open back cabs of any kind. They are great for cleans, but get really boomy and indistinct when you pile on the gain. That's a cool vibe for some leads, but not for precision rhythm work. I'm not sure a Mark IV head would sound that good through only one speaker. The Mark IV combo is built with that purpose in mind, and will also be much better at it. I would want at least a 2x12 for that amp. Not that I want to discourage someone from buying Mesa, but Vader makes a good cab, too. Necrophagist was plugging Engl SE heads into Vader 4x12 cabs, and they sounded amazing. Unless you can find a Mesa Recto 2x12 for less than the Vader, go with the Vader. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Can't go wrong with a Vader or a Mesa C90 cab but I totally agree with noodles, get at least a 2x12! Since used Mesas are about the price of new Vaders I can't hardly let myself tell you that the Vader isn't a better deal. The Eminences in Vaders are very similar to C90's IMO. Open back = not my thing either. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't have much experience with cabs, so I don't know if this open back 1x12 is my thing or not, all I know is a like it a hell of a lot better then V30's... I'll check today if the guy still wants my cab, if he takes it then I guess I'll be buying the Vader 2x12. I sent Adam an email regarding shipment to Canada so we'll see how that goes... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | When it comes to open back cabs, ask yourself this question: do you require a tight, punchy sound for your rhythm work. If so, open back cabs are completely wrong for you. I know they are completely wrong for me, considering that I play mainly thrash influenced stuff. However, for bluesy stuff, open back cabs really come into their own. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Alright, closed back cabs it is ![]() I'm just waiting on the guy to buy my cab, and if/when he does I'm gonna go after a 2x12 from vader. I've never seen someone answer questions so quickly, insightfully, and completely. If their product is as good as their service seems to be... ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This has me intrigued. Has anyone actually compared a Mesa C90 4x12 with a Vader cab? Vader might be a good money-saving way to go if they sound as good as a Mesa cab |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I own a Vader and have played C90 cabs several times. They're both just as good of a cab. There's a little difference in the voicing, I prefer the Vader just slightly over the Mesa but the Mesa is a close second favorite cab for me. The only bad thing about Vaders is there's nowhere you can go to try one for yourself. |

Well the Vader is sounding like a good option, and judging from the death metal bands that use them, they can take some abuse ![]() Is there any way you can describe the suttle differences? Like "The midrange is like this on the mesa but it's more this on the vader" ? | |
