![]() | Pod XT Live or G-Major? hey guys, i really need advice and personal opinions, ive had my xt live for two years, i run it into the fx loop on my marshall tsl 100 and i dunno, i get some alright delays out of it some days and some other days i get really pissed off with it. its a love hate relationship at the moment, now theres a g-major for sale from one of my sources, is it worth getting the g-major and not using the xt live? i really hope you guys can help me with my patches, ive made a few nice ones, but no real METAL patches, i own a couple of ESP horizons (hence the name :p) so im fairly set in that aspect, also, can anyone tell me how the xt live is thru a poweramp into a cab? im intrigued as to how the amp modellers react. any other suggestions are welcome! sorry for all the questions but im stuck in a rut, i dont know wether its GAS or the hate side, of the love hate relationship coming in from my xt live. help me save him! ![]() EDIT: i dont use the amp modellers on the FX loop of my tsl, it just sounds thin and crappy, any tips on how to get the awesome metal tone im after? |

I had one for a better part of 6 years, it is totally transparent, has incredible quality effects and intuitive features. I don't like Line 6 gear at all. That said, it doesn't have any 'patches' that make you sound more metal. It's an effects processor, not an amp modeler. You need to get your basic sound down from your Marshalls (hopefully you use a Tube Screamer in front of it, thats the key). Use the G-Major for delays, chorus, reverb, noise-gate, equalizers, tuner, pitch shifting, whatever. |

but i was referring to the xtl with the patches bit, i can get some good delays and some sweet EQ out of the xt live, but i just want it to be way more simple, its a bit TOO versatile my rig at the moment, 3 channel amp seperate eq, eq on the xt live, stomp box modelling, mod, delay etc. noise gates compressors, its just way to much to take in, i basically want to know wether or not, its worth keeping the xt live or buy the g major.. also if the answer is keep the xt live, then ill get into a tube screamer, theres a tube screamer stomp box model on the xt live, but its not that good... it just takes alot of the treble and bass and increases the mids in my tone, but i want a very bassy tone with trebles also! so its bittersweet at the moment...eh i dunno maybe im just to focused on the g-major... what do you all think... | |

Use the amp and cab models and really see what you like. I believe Bulb has a few patches that will work if you have the metal pack uploaded to the library. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah, try that out for a little while. With that setup, you'd be able to take full advantage of the xtl, since the pre in the head wouldn't be coloring the sound. Also, this would be essentially the same as running into a deticated power amp and cab, since you're bypassing the pre- with your fx loop. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i have bneen useing the Pod xt live as my controller for my rig..with effects i run it as 7 string-->radial Loop bone>Podxtl-->Brunetti-->effects loop DD-6 of brunetti--> explained? The radial is a two loop pedal with a boost, I run the pod xtl in one of the effects loops so it becomes completely "true bypassed" but yet the effects only no distortions at all are used to go to my Brunetti "which is controlled by MIDI out of the Pod Xt L. The Brunetti is a fully controllable amp by MIDI...another plus...... I love to hear pro's and cons....The TC is does not have all the options as the Pod...variax/Live/studio/head phones/USB/shareable tones library/upgradeable?...TC make some of the greatest effects and man they sound righteous but for the money..Pod XT live sorry! |

![]() | well, turns out ill stick with the XT Live, i was gettinga very hot carcass heartwork tone before, and that was from about a half hour of tweaking and changing intensely, thanks SO much for that useful setup OzzyC! its really cool. its still sounding a tiny bit thin, but i havent EQ'd it massively yet, so its gonna work!! thanks again guys! |
