![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Which amp for playing at home? hi guys! i currently have only a roland microcube for practicing and playing at home. It's nice for playing at REALLY low volumes, but when i hit it with my 7's, it just can't take it... (no wonder with just a 5" speaker) So i'm planning to sell it and get a new practice amp for @home. As its just for practicing, i don't intend to spend too much money on this. I'm currently looking at the following amps: cube 30, a spider II 1x12, a behringer GMX112 /v-ampire, and a Flextone II. I'm leaning towards the Flextone II, as I already own Flextone II head, which is decent. What else would you recommend? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | POD XT (or GuitarPort XT for that matter) straight into your computer and use a decent speaker setup for your PC. Plus, if you've heard any of bulb's stuff, you can get some great tones recorded that way. I wouldn't know what else to recommend since I've used the XT and GuitarPort for YEARS. I'm in Heidelberg so I understand the need to play quietly at home in Germany, but I use my Mark IV no matter what. All I need now is the right attenuator at the right price and I won't feel so bad about playing on Sundays and weekdays after 20:00! i own a podXT, but i still haven't got the money for a decent P.A. system. My computer speakers are pretty crappy FTL. Investing in good speakers, or a good P.A. is also something i plan to do, but that will cost me A LOT and will take a while.

![]() ![]() | I may be getting me a spider III 75 watt combo myself strictly for practicing in my room. I played on the 150 watt head and was very impressed even though I prefer tubes alot more.....but being just a practice amp I don't see how anyone could really go wrong with this combo.....unless your just totally not a solid state fan. Ah, the suffering. The sweet suffering. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'd say go with the Cube 30x or Vox or even a Behringer. My opinion, but i'd say to the Spider. It doesn't sound warm at all... very digital.I think it's the general consensus about this amp (on this forum anyway). |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | what about a 2x12 to run mono with the flextone HD, I think it's only 100 watts in mono, which a Marshall 1922 or 1936 could easily take? Sabaton ![]() |

i could get a cheap 2x12 with V30s for the price of the aforementioned amps, though. So in principle -yeah, i could.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've been using a Laney TT50H through a Laney 2x12 to practice...could sound better I guess but the Flextone, being solid state, shouldn't suffer that problem as much I suppose with the Orange it has more to "move" than it would through a 2x12? |
