JSX Volume
Ok, so I've noticed that the JSX on it's own really does not get that loud. For a supposed 120W it's not really got that much output, i mean, running both channels on 10, and the master volume pretty much 90% of the way up should level small cities, but it just doesn't.

On the other hand, i run my triaxis through the fx loop, trim the loop return down to stop it overloading, and then 9'o clock on the master volume is already loud.

Or have i just got a bit of a dud one?

The One i just picked up is loud as hell
setting the master at 5 and the channel volumes at 5 is
easily band rehearsal loud.

I heard about this...

...not sure what it is EXACTLY. but something about running the FX loop level high...

I didn't understand it when I read it...but apparently if you run the FX loop on full or something it is much louder

Hmm, could be a dud one from your other threads. Maybe stick a jumper cable in the FX loop and see if it can work as a volume boost?

THis would entail the FX loop working first... Seriously, if you have to use the FX loop to boost the volume of an amp to a usable level then that is total crap really... Especially when the footswitch has died and won't turn the FX loop on...

I may have to try it, as running the triaxis into the power section is plenty loud enough.

I just don't get why the amp just isn't loud by design. Unless satriani is completely gay.

Have you got some spare preamp tubes about? Maybe a dodgy preamp tube would reduce the signal enough to cause the problem? Either that or it's a duff JSX.

Actually, it was fine when you first got it.
