MOSFET LEAD 100
Marshall MOSFET LEAD 100, are these heads any good or are they garbage?
I am looking at one for around $320. Also the Valvestate 8100? Do either come with a small built in speaker? Last edited by coupe89; 06-15-2007 at 07:24 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

With the improvements made on ss amps in the last few years, I don't think I could recommend that anyone buy a MOSFET 100. I owned one about 10 years ago because it was the only thing I could afford at the time and even then it wasn't great.
The Valvestate 8100 is above and beyond better. Even more, Peavey's XL series (the Supreme and XXL) are even better than the 8100 and are still relatively cheap considering what you get. As far as having a 'small speaker' in it, I believe the 8100 is available in a combo (1x12 or 2x12), but the MOSFET is a head only. My recommendation is to AVOID the Lead 100 and try out the vs 8100. ps: I see that you're in PEI (I'm in NB), you might want to check out the buy/sell on the pei 'locals' forum ( the locals homepage :: View Forum - buy and sell ) to see what's available there. There's usually and all kinds of good deals popping up there. |

Thank you
I have A Fender deluxe 112 for a amp now, but want a half stack marshall. I can get a MG100 HDFX and a 4x12 cabinet for $350 Canadian used, is that good? |

I like he Marshall vs100, it is a great little 100 watt SS head. The old mosfet 100 pretty much blows, dont waste your money.

hm. if you're going to get a marshall halfstack, it's usually best to make sure its a tube marshall halfstack and not an MG/etc grade one. i've seen a JCM900 head go for $650 in ottawa (i guess buddy was desperate?), they sound pretty good.
3 cheers for free gear!
