![]() ![]() | I need a clean channel... So yesterday I went to my parents house and picked up my 5150 combo. Now before eveyone starts saying "5150's have a shitty clean channel" I happen to like how i have my amp set up, clean and distortion. Well today i was messing around with it and i basicly found imo an awesome lead tone when i crank the gain on the "clean" and turn on the crunch and bright buttons on it. So now i don't really want to change back because it sounds just different enough and with a little less gain than the other channel that I can use it as my solo channel. But now that leaves me without a clean channel. I was thinking, I've been wanting to get another preamp (just so I can have more tones at my disposal). Now if i get an a/b pedal can I run my guitar into that and one goes to the 5150 and the other to the other pre amp, then from the effects send of the 5150 to lets just say the left channel of my effects processor then the other preamp to the right side, then from there go out of the processor mono and go into the effects return of my 5150 and therefor have a shit ton of different sounds? Would that even work? Sorry for the long ass post. my girlfriend says i'm totally METAL! ![]() balls. ![]() |

When you want to go clean, roll back your volume. "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Try one of these for switching. Run the 5150 preamp in one loop and your other preamp in the other. Send the overall output into your fx and then into the 5150 poweramp. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | well, i don't own a 5150 but i could imagine that having something plugged in the 5150's instrument input at one output of the A/B switch with the other output in the FX-resturn will give you no signal when using the ext.preamp->FX-return path. Now if you pull the plug from the instrument-jack on the 5150, you'll get sound from what's feeding the FX-return. I know from some amps that the instrument-input has priority over using the FX-return as an poweramp input, so you always have to clear the instrument jack in order to use the FX-return. Quote:
