Warming up ENGL FIREBALL for solos

ok, so what do you guys think about KEELY MOD Boss DS-1? it's available here in Poland for a reasonable price... Oh, and what about Keely modded TS's? Should I pick TS9 Mod Plus or TS 808 Mod? And what's the difference? cheers

Get a tube screamer or like me a maxon od808, they truely do give your amp a "kick in the nuts". Forget everything else for now. These people know what there talking about. It will just make your amp sound better in every way. If like me you cant be bothered figuring out which TS to get, just get an OD808, there more reasonably priced over here and awsome.

I think if you want to set up a different lead sound, pumping more gain into the amp is a very poor idea. The MXR 10 band EQ is definetly the best way to go, especially seeing as you're happy with your rythm sound already.

I find a good lead sound has less gain than a good rythm sound. The MXR has additional volume and gain controls, so if you throw that in the loop, you could boost the signal, really shape your tone, and roll off some gain too, giving you a much more effective lead.

I won't disagree with Zimbloth about the tubescreamer tightening things up, but if you're talking about setting up a seperate lead sound, then it's not what you're looking for.

Yeah, definetly an EQ first, but that's not to say that a nice tubescreamer wouldn't be a good addition to your rig.

thanks guys... Now that I have the TS I see Karl Hungus was right - the TS is a nice toy and I will keep it, but this not eaxctly what I wanted. Will need to buy the MXR EQ anyway...
