![]() ![]() | Marshall MG250DFX, wow! I've had a 1986 Carvin X100B all tube head for a couple of months now. and just today, I traded my coffin case for a Marshall MG250DFX, only the rack, anyway, I get home and plug it in, the fan kinda scared me, I hook up my gear, some little Eq, and wow!, it matches the tone from my Carvin, and its really loud too! something I dind't expect from it AT ALL, I was just going to fix it up and make a small compartment for it and sell it, but now I'm having second thoughts, I am going to try it when I jam with my band, to see if it cuts thru... Has anyone had any experience with these amps? live or rehearsals? I was even daring to sell my Carvin and keep this, but I need some input and more info, . |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i have had the marshall MG100HDFX halfstack for about three years now, and i still love the damn thing... it´s just the best damn solid state amp i ever played! :P it holds up pretty damn well, too, great for pracicing, works great for gigging, and i recorded with it without trouble... so yeah, i´d say it´s a great amp, especially for it´s price... i really want a more extensive rig, but this does just fine, and more than fine even... it´s got great reverb too :P i use the delay effect, only effect on it that´s useable really, and it comes in pretty handy ![]() -------------------------------------- Æn Æppl Æ Dæi, Kiips De Dåktor Awæi |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Have you tried the older Marshall bi-chorus valvestate amps? Meshuggah used those partly on DEI, and there's a video of a medley of Sol Niger Within where Fredrick uses one. I never got the chance to play one of these ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I didn't know the Sol Niger medley was done on their old VS amp, the sound is so high gain and gated I don't think he used it alone. Certainly with an OD and a gate. Bloody Murder #5 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i dont think MG's are the best SS. i had a 250, it was good until i put a tube amp beside it. i played it again a few months ago, and it wasnt floating my boat at all. 3 cheers for free gear! ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the info guys, I don't use the distortion from the amp itself, I have all taht from my pedals, I had a Valvestate Marshall head before, but it sounded very muddy and sluggish, with my Carvin, everything sounds crisp and responsive, and with the MG250, it almost but not really matches the Carvin, I was just very impressed that it sounded as well as it does, for a SS. |
