POD 2.0 / POD XT
What's the difference between the two?
I want to get a unit I can use at home as a headphone/practice amp, and I am thinking of getting one of these units, but I can't tell the difference between the two? Any users? I know Donnie got some great sounds out of the XT. |

Dude, seriously, get the XT. It's worlds apart.
USB recording, and AIR controls with different mics.. The modeling options are way more open than they were on the POD 2.0 I hope Bulb chimes in on this one - you can just do so much with it, and if you know your way around a few plugins, and youre not afraid to sit with it and tweak for a while, you can crank out some serious metal tones from them. |

I still have my XT Live even though I bought the Mark IV. I won't part with it. It has the tones, especially once you install the mod packs. Recording with the Riffworks Line 6 edition is cool too since it all goes through the USB port and uses the POD as the sound device.
I used to be a Digitech man, but not after I was exposed to Line 6. "Dude, you need to find the right fucking meds to be on, because you are the most unstable person I know." |

The podXT has zillion of amps and options. Also, using a boost pedal for tightening things up is critical when using both units. The podXT has a tubscreamer pedal model and a boost/EQ for this, while you would have to use a "real" boost pedal with the old POD.
I own a podXT and a Flextone II HD, so I have basically dealt with both. The POD2.0 is 100x times easier to set up, and sounds good when boosted. If you're a tone freak and like endless tweaking possibilities, get the XT. edit: i almost forgot this: if you're getting the podXT, you'll NEED the metal-shop for getting the best out of it. The XT without the metal-shop model pack is IMO not much better for metal than the POD2.0 (boosted, of course). |

XT has my vote, you can get a killer deal on one if you're patient enough. I got mine for 250 and has all 3 model packs.
