Amp sounds dry?

I have a Peavey VK 112. I just hooked it up to an attenuator. The distortion sounds much better but it seems to sound "dry" or maybe thin is the term I'm looking for. My thoughts were it is 1) 1 speaker and not 2 2) the stock Peavey speaker 3) needs chorus or something 4) that's the way the amp sounds.

Any thoughts suggestions. I like the amp I just want to improve the sound a bit.

Does it do it when you crank it un-attenuated?

The VK's, IMO, can be dry sounding amps. By dry do you mean lacking body and that overall 'sweetness?' By body, I don't mean bass, but fullness and richness.

I could never get a distorted sound I liked out of my VK212, even with a Tube Screamer up front and into my friend's oversized Mesa 4x12 cab w/ V30's. It just didnt sound right. It was definatley lacking in many areas. I might even be so bold to say it was the worst amp Ive ever heard.

Yes that is exactly what I mean. In fact my first response was to roll the bass up and it didn't change anything. I'll have to try it without the attenuator to see the difference.

how long have you had the amp? i've played a VK 212/210 whatever it is, and the distortion didnt reeeally impress me. for the price, its ok...but i'd rather get a used peavey classic.

3 cheers for free gear!

Since X-mas. I like the distortion I just want a more full tone. I'm sure at some point I'll move to a JSX or Mesa Recto but this is what I've got for now.

I'd get a peavey transtube series instead of a VK if you want a more full distortion tone.
